Brothers share wife to secure family land HIMACHAL PRADESH, India (CNN) — Amar and Kundan Singh Pundir are brothers. Younger brother Amar breaks rocks in a mine for a living. Kundan farms their small piece of inherited land. They live in a beautiful but remote hillside village in the clouds of Himachal Pradesh, India. Both aged in their forties, the two brothers have lived together nearly their whole lives. They are poor and share just about everything: Their home, their work and a wife. “See we have a tradition from the beginning to have a family of five to 10 people. Two brothers and one wife.” Kundan says. They practice what is known as fraternal polyandry — where the brothers of one family marry the same woman. Why? Tradition and economics . Life is hard here. The village is precariously perched on the side of a very steep hill about 6000ft up. Most of the villagers survive off tiny plots of cropland . In this difficult terrain there isn’t enough land to go around. So, instead of finding separate wives and splitting up their inherited property, the brothers marry the same woman and keep their land together. Wife Indira Devi says life with two husbands isn’t easy. “We fight a lot.” But like any married couple they fight mostly over mundane stuff, except there are three spouses instead of two. “Usually it’s about chores, why didn’t you do this? In a major humiliation for the judiciary in India’s southern Andhra Pradesh state. Five judges have been caught cheating in a Master of Law examination. Here’s more on the story. Five judges were caught cheating at a postgraduate Master of Law examination in the state of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. Five judges and two other exam candidates were caught when a special team of examination supervisors made a surprise visit to the exam venue at the Arts and Science College at Kakatiya University. The candidates were caught jotting down answers from law books hidden under their answer sheets, and from slips and pages torn from textbooks. [Professor Ramesh, Exam Supervisor]: “When our team was performing the inspection, we caught seven candidates acting dishonestly in the examination.” It’s believed the Andhra Pradesh High Court acted swiftly on Thursday in suspending the disgraced judges. It has also asked the university to initiate actions against the judges and to submit a comprehensive report on the entire incident. The court went further by also asking the state government to initiate disciplinary action against all the judges as they have brought disrepute to the law profession.

Woman has the right to marry the man of her choice but husband will be the family leader and protector, not a tyrant. Your government has the responsibility to provide you safety and protection, but that also brings authority with it. You follow civic conduct and enjoy the benefits; but if you go violent then don’t whine about getting? jailed. You could apply this concept to the relationships of “Parents to children”, “Senior to junior”, & “Husband to wife”. Husband is responsible for expenses of wife and nurturing and education of kids, and husband has seniority in decision-making for the welfare of family. Now the question: “What a wife can do if her husband is violent and is abusing her?”. Answer: She can contact the elders of family such as her parents or her husbands parents so that the husband can be educated. If husband is too violent (depending upon how the wife feels about it) then she SURELY can contact the Islamic court of law and get a divorce, or can get her husband jailed or even lashed for abusing her (again, depending on the scale of abuse).
