Turn the Volume up Tonite

A rock song written and performed for Gibson Guitar Co. as part of a song-writing contest. It is meant to help raise awareness for amending the ‘Lacey’ Act.’ The Lacey Act is a conservation law meant to ensure that all wood and plant products taken, transported or sold in the US come from legal sources. It was passed into law in 1900 by President McKinley and has had several amendments since. On August 24th, 2011, the federal govt raided the Gibson Guitar factory and warehouses and confiscated ‘Indian Rosewood’ which they use to make guitar parts, even though Gibson asserts they purchased the wood legally from India. Gibson is trying to raise awareness and is trying to amend the ‘Lacey’ Act to make it fair and balanced, so it serves its original purpose of discouraging illegal logging and trade in plant and wildlife; But also protects the rights of American companies and workers that acquire and use such plant/ wood products legally and ethically. Technical Details for fellow musicians : A Gibson SG guitar was used to record this song, run through a Mesa Boogie Mark Five amplifier. I also wrote and recorded this song to showcase the distortion/ crunch tones you can get from a Gibson SG guitar ( which is the classic rock and roll/ metal guitar (thanks to the double humbucker pickups and fat, scorching mid-tones). The song was recorded and mixed at Alter/ Ego Studios (my home recording studio in Chicago, USA) . Thank you for listening and please spread the word about
